The wardstone pulsed again—slower this time, like a beast waking up from long sleep. My arm was getting heavy from holding the dildo against the wall socket, channeling every last drop of demonic energy I could spare. "Silra! Timeline!" I snapped at her while my free hand gripped the door frame opposite Halie's burning hands. We were balancing on this knife-edge between survival and being buried under a mountain of concrete and twisted metal. Every second counted now.

Halie's face was flushed from exertion, sweat mixing with the water running down her cheeks. The wardstone energy burned like fire, but she braced harder anyway because that's what you do when something tries to crush you. The frame hummed now, vibrating with dark power that tasted wrong in my mouth. Silra! How many seconds? she called over the building groaning around us, feet wide on the slick floor from spilled lube and water flooding out God knows where. Jeane had a dildo plugged into a wall socket like some kind of twisted wizard's staff.

The door creaked ominously, the sound echoing through the corridor like a death knell. The frame groaned under the pressure, and for a moment, it seemed as though the entire structure might collapse inward. Then, with a deafening crack, the door gave way—wardstone energy exploding outward in a visible wave of dark magic that slammed into me and Halie simultaneously.

I was thrown backward, my grip on the frame broken, the dildo yanked from the socket as I tumbled across the floor. The spell shattered instantly, demonic energy released all at once in a torrent that made every hair on my body stand on end. For one horrifying moment, I was completely exposed—no barrier between us and whatever lay beyond that door.

Halie managed to twist mid-fall, wrapping her arms around Hera protectively just as the wardstone's energy wave hit them both. The dark magic slammed into their bodies like physical blows, visible corruption spreading across Hera's skin in seconds while Halie screamed from the pain of it burning through her palms and into her bloodstream.

The floor beneath us heaved again—something massive shifting above—as concrete dust rained down from the ceiling. We were out of time. The building was coming down around us, and I had just lost our only defense against whatever lay beyond that door.

Silra's voice cut through the chaos: Ninety seconds! Maybe less if you keep feeding it! Her mechanical eyes scanned the darkness ahead, already calculating escape routes in her head while the rest of us were still processing the fact that we'd just signed our own death warrants. The wardstone pulsed again—faster now—and I knew we had maybe one minute before whatever was on the other side decided to come through and finish what the building's collapse started.

I scrambled to my feet, ignoring the way my hands shook from adrenaline and demonic energy overload. Move! I shouted at everyone else. Now! Before this whole fucking floor collapses! The dildo was still in my hand, still humming with residual magic that felt wrong and unstable now that it wasn't properly channeled. But it was better than nothing—at least I had a weapon if whatever came through decided to attack us.

Halie was already dragging Hera away from the door, her burned hands leaving smears of blood on the floor as she moved. The corruption spreading across Hera's skin pulsed with each wardstone beat, visible tendrils of darkness writhing beneath her flesh. She was hyperventilating again—panicking about the pain and the fear—and Halie just held her tighter while they both stumbled toward Silra and whatever escape route she'd found.

The floor tilted again, more dramatically this time. Something huge had given way upstairs—the sound of concrete cracking and metal tearing filled the air—as the entire structure began to list sideways like a ship taking on water. We had maybe thirty seconds before we were dumped down through multiple floors into the basement or whatever lay below. And I still hadn't figured out how to fix this situation.

Jeane! Silra called from the darkness beyond the doorframe. I found a way out—service tunnel, narrow but it goes down. Come on! She was already moving deeper into the shadows, mechanical eyes gleaming in the dim light as she led the way. It was our only option—either follow her or stay here and wait for the building to crush us all.

I glanced back at the wardstone one last time as we stumbled after Silra. The door frame glowed with dark energy now, pulsing rhythmically like a heartbeat. With each beat, more corruption seeped out into the hallway—spreading across the floor in visible tendrils that reached for our feet as if trying to pull us back inside.

This was bad. Really fucking bad. We'd gone from trapped in a collapsing building to potentially escaping into whatever nightmare realm the wardstone guarded—and I had no idea how to protect everyone from whatever lay ahead while still dealing with the immediate threat of structural collapse behind us.

But there was no time to think it through. The floor heaved again, concrete dust pouring down like rain as the entire penthouse suite began its descent toward the ground below. We were out of options—either take our chances in the darkness ahead or stay here and become part of the rubble.

Move your asses! I shouted at everyone, pushing Halie forward with one hand while clutching the dildo-turned-weapon in the other. The wardstone pulsed once more as we stumbled past it—slower now, almost disappointed—as if releasing us from its direct influence only to watch us fall into something worse.

And then we were through the doorframe and into the darkness beyond, concrete groaning behind us like a beast settling into sleep as the entire floor began its long descent toward the ground below.
