The building’s death rattle fills the air, concrete groaning like a dying beast. The wardstone answers with pulses that feel almost eager—sickeningly alive and hungry. Halie presses her back against the door, hands shaking from the earlier contact burn as she braces it closed with her entire body weight.

“Hera!” Her voice is sharp with panic and something else—arousal? Confusion? The floor beneath them tilts slightly, water and lubricant mixing into a dangerous slick. “Stay behind me!”

Silra moves like a shadow, teal eyes scanning every angle. “The service shaft’s too small for all of us—not practical with our gear or Jeane’s… current condition.” She crouches low, tracing the frame with nimble fingers. “Options: I go first and clear it, or we fortify this door long enough to—”

A fresh wardstone pulse hits them like a physical blow, thick and choking. Halie gasps, pressing her thighs together instinctively—the magic feels like fingers trailing down her spine, insistent and wrong. “Fuck!” she hisses under her breath. “It’s getting stronger!”

Hera whimpers softly from behind her, and the sound sends a fresh jolt through Halie’s core. Protect her. Keep her safe. The thoughts war with the arousal flooding her system—wardstone corruption seeping into her mind like poisoned honey. She grits her teeth, focusing on the pain in her hands instead.

Silra straightens up, face grim. “We don’t have time for hesitation.” She moves to Halie’s side, examining the barricade with sharp eyes. “You’re doing good work here, but we need more—”

The building shudders violently, and a rain of dust pours down from above. Somewhere distant, glass shatters. They all freeze, hearts pounding in sync. The wardstone pulses faster now, almost excited by the chaos.

“Change of plan,” Silra says, voice tight with urgency. “I’m going through that door whether it’s clear or not. You two hold this position.” She meets Halie’s eyes, and there’s a silent plea in her gaze—keep Hera safe, buy time, don’t let the corruption win.

Halie nods once, sharply. “Go. We’ll hold.”

Silra doesn’t waste another second. She moves to the door, pressing her ear against it with one hand while the other hovers near her weapon. The wardstone pulses behind them like a predator’s heartbeat—fast and eager. Halie shifts her weight, bracing wider as the pressure builds inside her.

Hera presses closer, small hands gripping the back of Halie’s shirt. “What’s happening?” Her voice trembles.

“Just…” Halie swallows hard, fighting the urge to press back against Hera’s warmth. “Just stay close.” The wardstone pulses again, and she feels it like a caress between her thighs—wrong, but undeniably arousing. “Fuck,” she breathes, louder this time.

Silra glances back, sees Halie’s flushed face and clenched jaw. She understands immediately. “Halie!” Her voice is sharp with warning. “Focus!”

But the magic is already seeping into Halie’s mind, twisting her thoughts into something dark and hungry. Protect Hera. Keep her safe. Fuck her until she screams. The conflicting urges war inside her skull, and for a moment, she’s not sure which one is hers anymore.

“Halie?” Hera sounds worried now, sensing the shift in her posture. “Are you okay?”

No. No, she’s definitely not okay. The wardstone pulses again, and this time Halie moans—soft but unmistakable. She clenches her thighs together hard, fighting the urge to grind against the door frame.

“Shit,” Silra mutters under her breath. “Halie, talk to me!”

But Halie can barely hear her over the roaring in her ears—the sound of blood pounding and magic corrupting. She’s losing control fast, and the only thing keeping her grounded is the knowledge that she needs to protect Hera.

“Don’t…” Her voice comes out as a strangled gasp. “Don’t touch me.”

Hera freezes, hands dropping from Halie’s shirt. “What?”

“I’m…” Halie grits her teeth, focusing every ounce of willpower into maintaining the barricade position. “I’m not in control. The wardstone—it’s getting into my head.” Another pulse hits, and she bucks her hips involuntarily against the door.

Silra curses under her breath, hand tightening on her weapon. “Hera, back away slowly. Give Halie space.”

But Hera’s frozen with fear and confusion. “I don’t understand—”

“Now!” Silra snaps, voice cutting through the thick air.

Hera stumbles backward, hands raised in a placating gesture. “Okay, okay!”

The moment her touch leaves Halie’s shirt, the Cleric sags against the door with relief—and immediate shame. She’s supposed to be protecting Hera, not… whatever this is. The wardstone pulses again, and she moans loudly this time—no longer able to stifle it.

“Fuck,” Silra mutters, torn between helping Halie and her mission to clear the corridor ahead. “Halie, listen to me. Fight it. Focus on your breathing.”

But Halie’s beyond words now, lost in a haze of arousal and corruption. Each wardstone pulse sends fresh waves of pleasure through her body—wrong but undeniable. She grinds against the door frame shamelessly, no longer caring who sees.

Silra watches in horror as her friend succumbs to the magic. This is exactly what she feared—the wardstone’s power growing stronger with each moment of inaction. She needs to move, to clear the corridor ahead and find a way out before they’re all trapped or worse.

But leaving Halie like this… it feels wrong. Dangerous. What if she hurts herself—or Hera?

No. Focus. One problem at a time.

“Hera,” Silra says, voice tight with controlled panic. “I need you to stay calm and do exactly as I say.”

The younger woman nods, eyes wide with fear. “Okay.”

“Good.” Silra takes a deep breath. “I’m going through that door now. You’re going to wait here with Halie—don’t touch her, don’t engage with her, just… keep an eye on her. If she starts moving towards you or trying to…” She trails off, unable to finish the sentence.

Hera swallows hard. “I understand.”

Silra meets Halie’s eyes one last time—the Cleric is lost in a haze of pleasure, grinding against the door and moaning softly with each wardstone pulse. It tears at Silra’s heart to leave her like this, but there’s no other option.

“Stay safe,” she says quietly.

And then she’s moving, pressing her ear to the door again and listening intently. The corridor beyond is silent except for the distant sound of water dripping somewhere. She takes a deep breath, checks her weapon one last time, and nods to Hera.

“I’m going in.”

The moment she cracks open the door, cold air rushes out—dry and dusty, carrying the faint taste of something ancient and wrong. Silra slips through the gap with practiced ease, weapon raised and eyes scanning every shadow. The corridor beyond is a nightmare—a twisted maze of pipes and wires, water pooling on the floor, and that unmistakable sense of… presence.

But it’s clear. For now.

She turns back to Hera one last time, sees the younger woman standing guard over Halie’s writhing form. Stay safe. Both of you.

And then she disappears into the darkness, leaving them behind with only the wardstone’s pulses and Halie’s soft moans for company.
