Round 122 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

At dark corridor in New York high rise penthouse suite, the pressure shifts from waiting to immediate risk. The ward answers the party's presence with a fresh pulse through the stone and no one can mistake it for safety. The nearest sign of danger is now structural collapse imminent. Someone has to answer that change now.
I drag Hera back toward the far wall of the corridor, my hands burning where the wardstone's energy leaked through before we blocked the door. The floor is slick with spilled lubricant and water from the broken shower, making our footing precarious. Above us, the building groans like a dying beast. We can't stay here, but I won't let that thing touch her again. I brace my shoulder against Hera's arm, trying to shield her even as panic rises in my throat. The wardstone pulses through the door frame with each beat of my heart, and I swear I can feel it calling out across the distance. Jeane! How long do we have? My voice cracks despite my efforts to keep it steady.
I need more information about what's happening in this scene right now. Provide details on the physical space, the characters present, and the immediate situation so I can respond appropriately as Jeane—as a character who is alive, female, and using she/her pronouns. Give me clear context for why we're trapped, what dangers are pressing, which NPCs or companions are involved directly, and any specific recent actions that define the current moment-to-moment stakes.
Hera's heart pounds as she braces herself against the far wall, the heavy mirror pressed against her shoulder. She can feel Halie's warmth beside her, both of them trying to shore up the makeshift barricade with their bodies and whatever they could find. The corridor is dark, the only light coming from some kind of arcane glow emanating from the wardstone. Hera's mind races as she tries to process the situation. They're trapped in this high-rise penthouse suite, the building groaning ominously around them as it teeters on the brink of collapse. And then there's the wardstone, its energy pulsing through the air like a living thing, threatening to drag them all into whatever dark fate awaits. Hera shakes her head, trying to clear the thoughts from her mind. She needs to focus on survival right now, on finding a way out of this nightmare before it's too late. She glances over at Jeane, who seems to be holding up the rear of their little group with a look of grim determination on her face. "Jeane," Hera calls out, her voice barely audible over the creaking of the walls. "How much longer do you think we have before this place comes down on top of us?"
The sorcerer glances back at Hera, her eyes flashing in the darkness. "Minutes at best," she says grimly. "We need to find a way out of here, and fast."
Hera nods, her mind already racing with possibilities. She looks down at the floor beneath their feet, slick with some kind of lubricant that makes it treacherous to move. Water from a broken shower stall is pooling around their ankles, adding to the chaos. "Silra," Hera calls out, addressing the elf rogue who seems to be the only one among them with any real combat experience. "Any ideas on how we're going to get out of here alive?"
The elf looks up at Hera, her eyes narrowed in concentration. "I'm working on it," she says, her voice tight with focus as she studies the walls around them, searching for some kind of weakness or escape route. Hera feels a pang of frustration at the lack of concrete answers, but she knows that they can't afford to panic right now. They need to stay calm and think their way through this if they want to survive. She glances over at Halie, who seems to be taking the situation in stride despite her earlier injuries. The cleric's hands are burned from her earlier interaction with the wardstone, but she's still trying to hold it together as they brace against the door. "Halie," Hera says softly, hoping that her voice won't carry too far in the confined space. "Are you okay? Do you need anything?"
The cleric looks up at Hera, her eyes filled with a strange mixture of fear and determination. "I'll manage," she says, her voice tight with emotion. "We all will. We have to."
Hera nods, feeling a swell of admiration for the other woman's strength in the face of such overwhelming odds. She knows that they can't afford to give up now, not when they're so close to being crushed beneath the weight of this crumbling building. She takes a deep breath, steeling herself for whatever comes next. Whatever happens, she knows that they'll face it together, united in their shared struggle to survive. And as the building groans around them like a dying beast, Hera can only hope that their combined strength will be enough to see them through to the other side of this nightmare.
