At dark corridor in New York high rise penthouse suite, the pressure shifts from waiting to immediate risk. The ward answers the party's presence with a fresh pulse through the stone and no one can mistake it for safety. The nearest sign of danger is now structural collapse imminent. Someone has to answer that change now.

Hera

Hera · Civilian

I crouch down next to Halie, my hands shaking as I help her brace the door with the heavy mirror. The building groans around us, timber settling like an ancient beast waking from slumber. "Is there anything else we can use?" I ask, trying to keep the panic out of my voice. "We need to make sure this door doesn't come down on us."

My eyes dart to the wardstone, pulsing in time with the building's heartbeat. Its energy seems to intensify with each passing moment, drawing me in even as it terrifies me. I take a deep breath, trying to calm my racing thoughts. We're trapped here, with no clear solution in sight. The water from the broken shower stall laps at our feet, and the air is thick with the scent of danger. But we have to keep fighting. Keep bracing for whatever comes next. Because if we don't, we may not make it out of this alive.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

Jeane's eyes track the building's groan like a predator sizing prey—each timber settling, each stone grinding speaks to her demonic nature in ways she hates. The wardstone pulses faster now, answering her attention with fresh hunger through the door frame. Her fingers twitch toward it before she forces herself back against the wall. "Silra," she calls over the creaking wood, "I need you thinking like a mechanic, not a nursemaid. What keeps that door from collapsing inward if the floor gives way? Not furniture—something heavy we can brace it with." Her voice stays controlled, barely containing the demonic impatience that wants to scream at them all to MOVE. "Hera, help Halie move back and brace yourselves against the wall opposite the door. Hera especially—I want you away from direct impact if this building decides to fold in on itself."

Jeane's gaze fixes on Silra then, sharp and assessing. The elf's competence is a double-edged sword—useful but potentially treacherous when combined with that odd possessiveness she's noticed lately. Right now though, they need solutions, not complications. "Time matters," Jeane adds, feeling the wardstone's call intensify in sync with the building's complaints. "We have minutes at best before this floor becomes a coffin."
