At Penthouse suite in a New York high rise, the pressure shifts from waiting to immediate risk. The ward answers the party's presence with a fresh pulse through the stone and no one can mistake it for safety. The nearest sign of danger is now structural instability from wardstone interaction. Someone has to answer that change now.

Silra

Silra · Rogue

I look at the wardstone's surface, tracing its geometric patterns with my eyes. It pulses like a heart on the edge of failure. "Pressure points," I mutter, half to myself. "Like a living thing." The structure is delicate—too delicate for what Jeane has in mind. One wrong touch and this entire floor comes down. I glance at Halie, then at Hera, who's still trying to find some noble solution that doesn't involve us all getting fucked by magic concrete. "Hera," I say, voice flat, "the wardstone isn't asking for your consent—it's demanding tribute, and if we don't provide it soon, this building becomes a coffin."

Jeane's eyes are on me now, sharp and hungry despite the fear. I meet her gaze without flinching. "The stone wants leverage," I continue. "It doesn't care about your dick or anyone's submission—it cares about power." I step closer to the wardstone, ignoring the way it makes my skin crawl. "Halie's right—the chastity thing is a bad idea. Too much divine energy concentrated in one place will corrupt everything."

I trace one of the geometric lines with my finger, careful not to complete any circuits. The stone hums under my touch—a sound like distant screams. "There might be another way," I say slowly. "If we can disrupt its flow without giving it what it wants directly, maybe we can short-circuit the whole thing." My eyes flick to Jeane. "It'll take precision and control—two things you're not known for in these situations."

The building groans around us, a sound like old bones shifting. The wardstone pulses faster. "I'm not volunteering myself," I add quickly, seeing the calculation in Jeane's expression. "But if someone creates enough chaos to overload its sensors temporarily, I might be able to redirect the energy surge."

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I'm not some cheap whore who gets off on risking my own neck for your kicks. The wardstone pulses like a heart on the edge of failure. The structure is delicate—too delicate for what Jeane has in mind. Hera, the wardstone isn't asking for your consent—it's demanding tribute, and if we don't provide it soon, this building will come down around our ears. I'm not volunteering myself, but if someone creates enough chaos to overload its sensors temporarily, I might be able... Jeane turns away from Hera, her face set in a mask of cold fury. She stalks over to where Silra is examining the wardstone, her heels clicking ominously against the floor. "What exactly do you mean by 'chaos'?" she demands, her voice like ice. "And what kind of temporary solution are you proposing? Because if it involves me or any of us becoming a permanent sacrifice, I want to hear that now."
