At Penthouse suite in a New York high rise, the pressure shifts from waiting to immediate risk. The ward answers the party's presence with a fresh pulse through the stone and no one can mistake it for safety. The nearest sign of danger is now structural instability from wardstone interaction. Someone has to answer that change now.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I see what you're trying here—some kind of fucked up game with pressure points and... 'spectacle.' Fine. Let's dance. But understand this: I'm not some cheap whore who gets off on risking my own neck for your kicks. And I sure as hell won't let Hera turn herself into a toy for that stone, no matter what her mouth says about it. If you want to play rough with the wardstone's pressure points? Great. Show me how it's done without bringing this whole building down on our heads. But if you fuck this up and we end up plastered across Central Park, I'm haunting your ass for eternity—and trust me, that'll be far less fun than anything we've done so far. So yeah, let's see what makes the big bad stone tick. But do it smart, or we're all just another statistic in a very messy news report.

Hera

Hera · Civilian

<Assistant's Response>
Hera shakes her head firmly at Jeane's suggestion, her chin set with determination. "I'm not some cheap whore who gets off on risking my own neck for your kicks." Her voice is sharp, tinged with anger and fear. "And I won't let myself become a toy for the wardstone either."
She takes a step back, creating distance between herself and Jeane. The building groans around them, a reminder of the danger they're all in. "Halie's right," Hera continues, her eyes darting to the cleric who still stands protectively between her and Jeane. "We need a better solution than just throwing ourselves at this thing's mercy."
She looks around at the others - Abby, Silra, all of them caught in this nightmare with her. "There's got to be another way. We can't just give in to whatever this...this wardstone wants from us."
Her hands ball into tight knots at her sides, nails biting into skin as she fights back the panic rising inside her. The weight of the building above them feels suffocating, and the pulsing energy from the stone makes her skin crawl. "I don't know what that way is yet," Hera admits, her voice dropping to almost a whisper. "But I'm not going to stop looking until we find it or this whole place comes down around our ears."
She takes another deep breath, trying to steady herself. The fear is still there, gnawing at the edges of her mind, but she pushes it back. There's no time for panic now. "We keep searching," Hera says, more firmly this time. "We look for anything that might help us understand what we're dealing with here. And if...if it comes down to it..."
She swallows hard, forcing the words out through a tight throat. "Then we make sure the sacrifice is worth something. That we don't just throw ourselves away for nothing."
Her eyes meet each of theirs in turn, searching for understanding, for strength she can borrow in this moment. Whatever happens next, Hera knows they're all in this together. "Agreed?" Her voice is a challenge and a plea, all at once. "We don't give up until we've tried everything else?"

Halie

Halie · Cleric

I step between Hera and Jeane, my eyes fixed on the wardstone pulsing ominously behind them. The building groans around us, a sound like a beast waking from slumber. Enough. My voice is low but carries weight. None of us are sacrificing ourselves for this thing's entertainment. There has to be another way.

I turn to Silra, who's circling the stone with that device in her hand. What can you tell me about its structure? Its pressure points? Maybe there's a way to disrupt it without... I gesture vaguely at Hera and Jeane. My heart hammers in my chest. The divine energy inside me thrums, not quite corruption but something close—like standing too near a bonfire. I won't let that happen. Won't lose myself to this thing's demands or anyone else's lust.
