Phase: converging

Silra stepped forward, her voice cutting through the charged air of the penthouse suite. "Jeane, focus! We need genuine commitment, not just lustful energy." The wardstone's pulsating light intensified with each beat, casting grotesque shadows across the room's remaining intact walls. Jeane's gaze snapped back to Silra, her crimson eyes gleaming with barely contained arousal even as a flicker of genuine fear passed through them.
The building groaned around them, the sound shifting from ominous rumble into something closer to a death rattle that made Hera flinch visibly. The wardstone's light pulsed a sickly green now—each pulse matching the rhythm of the groaning wood with terrifying precision. Halie channeled divine energy into the structure in a visible surge of warm golden light, and for a moment the creaking stopped entirely. But the strain showed clearly on her face, sweat beading across her forehead despite the room temperature dropping several degrees.
Her eyes found Jeane's, desperation clear beneath the professional facade. The sorcerer's own expression was glazed with arousal and something else—fear or desperation as she watched Halie work, her wings shifting restlessly behind her. The building gave another great groan that shook dust from the ceiling beams, several of which now hung at dangerous angles.
"We need a real solution," Silra hissed, "not just more fucking against a collapsing wall." She moved to stand beside Jeane, her slim form tense with barely controlled panic. "The wardstone wants commitment? Fine. We'll give it commitment—with an agenda attached. But we do this smart, not stupid."
Jeane's eyes narrowed, a slow smile curving her full lips despite the obvious fear in her expression. "Smart how, Silra? Because from where I'm standing, 'smart' looks an awful lot like finding creative ways to keep this place from collapsing while still giving that thing what it wants." Her gaze swept across the room, taking in Hera's trembling form, Abby clinging to a chair for support, and the way Halie's face showed exhaustion even as she maintained her divine energy flow into the structure.
The wardstone pulsed again, its light washing over them all in that sickly green glow. The building responded with another groan that sounded almost like a protesting scream, several more ceiling beams cracking audibly. Time was running out—everyone in the room knew it.
