Abby · Civilian

I stare at the sybian Hera is holding, my mind racing with what Silra said about the wardstone wanting more than cheap tricks and props.
My gaze flickers over to Jeane's face, seeing the concern etched there, then back to the toy in Hera's hands.
The groaning of the building around us seems to grow louder, more insistent, as if the very structure is waiting for our next move.
"I think Silra might be right," I say softly, my voice almost lost in the creaking of the floorboards. I take a hesitant step forward, my eyes fixed on Hera. "Maybe... maybe we need to do something else. Something more real."

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

Jeane Cromwell watched the wardstone pulse with renewed intensity, its hunger made manifest in the groaning of the building around them. She didn't like this—didn't like feeling cornered, didn't like Silra's implications about 'cheap tricks,' and certainly didn't like the way her own body responded to the elf woman's proximity despite herself. The sorceress felt a flash of irritation mixed with arousal as she met Hera's uncertain gaze. This wasn't supposed to be complicated—satisfy the wardstone, keep everyone safe, maybe even enjoy themselves in the process. But now Silra was making it sound like they needed to perform some kind of… ritual sacrifice on the sybian altar. "We're not slaughtering virgins here," Jeane said coolly, her tone sharp enough to cut through the growing tension. "If you've got a better idea than public sex with a magical vibrator, I'm all ears." She stepped closer to Silra deliberately, invading the elf's space—not out of desire but challenge. "Or are we just going to stand here and let this building come down around us while we debate the proper technique for wardstone appeasement?"

Jeane's gaze flickered to Hera again, noting the woman's hesitation despite her words about being in it together. The sorceress felt a twinge of something—not quite jealousy, certainly not possessiveness—and quickly suppressed it. They had a problem to solve, and emotional entanglements weren't part of that equation. "If we're doing this," Jeane continued, addressing the group but mostly keeping her attention on Silra, "then let's do it right. No half-measures, no cheap tricks." She paused, letting the words hang in the air between them like a gauntlet thrown down.
