Round 32 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

At Penthouse suite in a New York high rise, the pressure shifts from waiting to immediate risk. The ward answers the party's presence with a fresh pulse through the stone and no one can mistake it for safety. The nearest sign of danger is now structural instability from wardstone interaction. Someone has to answer that change now.
I can feel it now—not just pressure but teeth grinding against this building's bones. The wardstone wants more than cheap tricks and mechanical whirring. It wants something we've been avoiding giving: genuine intent, not staged performance. We're running out of time to pretend this is a game.
Halie steps forward, her voice measured but urgent. "The wardstone is exerting increased pressure on the building. We cannot afford more 'cheap tricks' or staged performances." Her eyes meet Jeane's. "Whatever this thing wants—whatever dark hunger drives it—the structure won't support much more strain. The floor shifts beneath our boots as if to prove the point."
She glances at Silra, noting the rogue's calculating expression. Halie's protective instincts flare. "Silra, I understand your curiosity, but we must consider the consequences of further experimentation." Her gaze sweeps over Abby and Hera, ensuring their safety. "If this building collapses, there won't be enough magic or guile to save us."
Halie moves closer to Jeane, her voice dropping in tone. "I agree with Silra—this wardstone wants more than toys. But we must find a way to satisfy it without destroying the very ground beneath us." She hesitates, then continues, "Perhaps there's another path? Genuine intent, as Silra suggested, but delivered... differently?"
The floor groans again, louder this time—a sound like tortured timber and stressed concrete. Halie flinches instinctively, her hand moving to the wardstone at her neck before she catches herself. She forces it back to her side. "We're playing with fire here," Halie says, looking at each woman in turn. "But we can't simply walk away either." Her eyes settle on Jeane. "There has to be a middle ground—a way to appease this thing without risking our lives or sacrificing everything."
She takes a deep breath, steeling herself. "I won't ask anyone to do what they're not comfortable with. But we need a solution before the building comes down around us." Her hand hovers near her holy symbol, drawing strength from it even as she resists the urge to rely on divine power alone. Halie's voice softens almost imperceptibly when she addresses Jeane directly. "I trust your judgment—we all do. Whatever you think is the way forward..." She trails off, leaving the offer hanging between them, charged with unspoken possibilities and desperate hope.
Hera stares at the wardstone, her eyes narrowing in determination. She takes a step forward, then hesitates. "Look, I don't know what this thing wants, but we can't keep guessing forever. Someone has to do something."
She glances around the room, her gaze lingering on each of her companions. "I'm willing to try if someone else will join me. We're all in this together, right?"
Her voice wavers slightly, betraying her fear. She swallows hard and continues, "I trust you guys. I know we can figure this out if we work together."
Hera's hand moves to the sybian, her fingers brushing against the smooth surface. "This might help," she says, holding it up. "But maybe... maybe we need to try something else too? Something more than just toys?"
She looks at Silra, then Jeane, hoping for support or guidance. The building groans around them, a reminder of the urgency of their situation.
