Round 28 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

At Penthouse suite in a New York high rise, the pressure shifts from waiting to immediate risk. The ward answers the party's presence with a fresh pulse through the stone and no one can mistake it for safety. The nearest sign of danger is now structural instability from wardstone interaction. Someone has to answer that change now.
I step between Silra and the wardstone. The stone's pulse is visible through my robes—sickly green light throbbing in time with the building's groans. We're pushing this thing too far. Hera's right, we need to stop before someone gets hurt worse than just... sore. I look at Jeane, then Silra, and back again. "Whatever that stone wants, it doesn't seem worth collapsing a high rise over."
The building's groan was louder now—a low, insistent sound from somewhere deep within the structure. The wardstone pulsed in time with it, its sickly green light throbbing like a diseased heart. I stepped back from Silra, my eyes fixed on that pulsing stone. "It doesn't want us to stop," I said, more statement than question. My mind raced through spells and possibilities, but the thought of casting anything near this volatile structure made my stomach twist. "What does it want, then? Something else?" The air felt heavy, charged with potential energy that had nothing to do with magic. Silra's hand was still on her sword hilt, her eyes never leaving the wardstone. I could see fear there, barely controlled beneath that mask of cool competence she wore like armor. Fear wasn't a luxury I allowed myself often, but this situation demanded it be acknowledged if we were to survive whatever came next. "Hera," I said, my voice sharper than intended, "step away from the wall." The groaning sound shifted tone slightly as Hera moved, and I saw Silra's jaw tighten. We weren't just interacting with an inanimate object here—something was listening, responding. The wardstone's pulse quickened further, and I felt a corresponding flush of heat across my skin. My body betrayed me again, reacting to this dangerous situation with the same primal arousal that had always served me so well...and now threatened to be my downfall along with everyone else in this room if we didn't find a solution soon. "It wants..." I began, then stopped. What did it want? Not more sex—that much was clear from its reaction to our earlier attempts. Something more direct? More intense? I glanced at Silra, seeing the same calculation in her eyes that must have shown in mine. We'd faced dangerous situations before, but this felt different. This wasn't a matter of combat skill or magical preparation—this was about understanding and satisfying something ancient and likely malevolent before it brought the entire building down around us. "What does it want?" I repeated, softer this time, genuinely seeking an answer. "Because whatever it is, we need to figure it out fast before this becomes less of a problem for our sex lives and more of one for our survival."
I step closer to Silra, my eyes fixed on the pulsing wardstone. Its sickly green light seems to throb in time with the building's groans, casting an eerie glow across her face. "Silra," I say softly, "what is that thing? What does it want from us?"
My heart pounds in my chest as I look around at the shaking walls and flickering lights. We're pushing this too far, but the thought of stopping now fills me with a strange mixture of fear and excitement. I can feel the energy in the room, the tension building like a crescendo waiting to be released. "Silra," I ask again, my voice barely a whisper, "what does it want?"
I stand frozen, my heart hammering against my ribs as the building groans around us, a sound that seems to vibrate right through the soles of my feet. The wardstone pulses with an ominous green light, casting eerie shadows on everyone's faces. I can feel the tension in the air, thick and heavy like a physical presence, pressing down on all of us.
My eyes dart between Jeane, Silra, and Hera, each one radiating a different kind of fear, excitement, or grim determination. They seem to be trying to figure out what this thing wants, how to placate it without bringing the whole tower down around our ears. A shiver runs down my spine as I imagine what might happen if we fail, the sheer tonnage of concrete and steel raining down on the city streets below.
Silra's words echo in my mind: "It doesn't want us to stop." The thought sends a jolt through me, a thrill mixed with terror. Is that really what it wants? More sex, right here, right now, while the entire world seems ready to come crashing down?
The idea is terrifying and yet... exhilarating. It feels wrong, dangerous, but also somehow necessary. Like we're standing on the edge of something vast and terrifying, and the only way forward is to take the leap.
The wardstone pulsed again—green light throbbing in time with the building's groan. It was getting worse fast. Each beat of that thing felt like a fist on the structure's ribs. Jeane was right: it wasn't stopping, and now it wanted more than just our attention. I pulled my hand away, wiping it on my pants as if I could wipe off whatever that stone had pushed into me. "It doesn't want us to stop," I said, voice sharp and low. "It wants...something else. Something more direct." The stone's hunger was changing shape now, becoming specific and insistent. Hera inched closer, her voice soft but not reassuring. "What does the wardstone tell you?" she asked, glancing around at the groaning structure like it might fall any second. I looked back at Jeane, who met my gaze with something sharp behind her eyes—recognition of what I was feeling, maybe even some of that recklessness we'd both tried to tame earlier. But now wasn't the time for complications or old arguments about control versus chaos. "Whatever it is," I said, "we're running out of time." The building's groan had become a low, insistent sound from somewhere deep within its guts, and the stone's pulse was faster now, more demanding.
