Round 21

Phase: escalating

Silra's words were a stark contrast to Jeane's half-formed excitement. The wardstone wasn't just feeding—it was consuming the building's structural integrity like a parasite on an overtaxed host. Each pulse sent fresh tremors through the floorboards, wood groaning under strain that no mere foundation should endure. We're not in a sex club anymore, we're inside a living organism that's being slowly digested from within by our own presence here.
The elf's eyes stayed fixed on the pulsating stone as she spoke, her focus absolute despite the building's protests around us. "You want to treat this like another kink? Fine—let's call it what it is. The wardstone needs energy or it'll collapse this entire structure around us. And not just any energy—it's specifically designed for sexual discharge." She pulled out one of the sleek toys from her pack, holding it up between us with an expression that said business before pleasure. "We transfer through these. No direct contact with the stone itself."
The toy gleamed under the room's dim lighting as she rotated it slowly—a practical tool masquerading as a sex toy in this increasingly surreal situation. I could feel the building groan again, louder this time, timbers shifting beneath my feet with a sound like ancient bones settling after too long under strain. We were running out of time.
"Transfer what exactly?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper despite the rising panic inside me. The wardstone pulsed again, its rhythm accelerating slightly—was that even possible?—and the entire room seemed to shudder in response. Hera was still across the space, frozen mid-sentence with her amber eyes wide and terrified. We needed to act before this situation escalated beyond our control.
Silra's gaze hardened as she replied, "Energy. Pleasure. Whatever you want to call it—it's not important right now." She moved closer, lowering her voice despite the futility of trying to keep Hera from hearing in a room this small and a building this vocal about its distress. "The wardstone was built to manage sexual tension within these walls. It draws energy from what happens inside and dissipates it safely through the foundation. But we've been here too long without... release."
She glanced meaningfully at the toys, then back to me with an expression that said she wasn't enjoying delivering this explanation any more than I was receiving it. "The building's been storing excess pressure for hours—maybe days—and now it's reaching critical levels. We need to provide that release or the wardstone will take what it needs by force. And right now, that means collapsing the entire structure around us."
I felt my stomach drop as another violent tremor ran through the floorboards. The wardstone pulsed again, faster this time—was that even possible?—and the entire room seemed to shudder in response. We were running out of time.
"Fine," I hissed back, keeping my voice low despite the rising panic inside me. "But how do we—"
Silra cut me off with a sharp gesture, her eyes fixed on something behind me. When I turned, Hera was still standing there, frozen mid-sentence with her amber eyes wide and terrified. The poor woman had no idea what she'd stumbled into, and now she was trapped in a collapsing building with three strangers discussing wardstones and energy transfers like it was perfectly normal conversation.
Shit. This just got more complicated.
