Round 453 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Silra's words hang in the air, I feel a surge of panic. The tunnel's walls continue to close in around us, the stone pressing in from both sides as the symbols' glow grows brighter. The stardust-like coating on Silra's skin spreads, creeping up her neck and onto her face like a slow-moving tide. I glance down at my own hands, flexing them in a futile attempt to keep the spreading corruption at bay. "Quickly, take off your jacket," Silra whispers, her eyes burning with desperation. "We need to cover your skin before it's too late."
I hesitate for a moment, unsure if this will be enough to save us. But I know I have to try. I rip off my jacket and hand it to Silra, who hastily wraps it around my face, the fabric clinging to my skin like a makeshift mask. Concrete consequence: The stardust-like coating on Silra's skin now covers her entire face, leaving only her eyes visible. New detail or complication: The tunnel's air grows thick with an otherworldly scent, like ozone and decay mingling in a toxic stew. Immediate pressure or decision point: Silra's breathing becomes labored, and she whispers, "We need to keep moving. If we don't find the Starheart artifact, I'll be consumed by the corruption within three hours."
I feel a chill run down my spine at Silra's words, her voice barely audible over the incessant thrumming of the walls. The air grows thicker by the second, making it hard to breathe as I fumble with the jacket, pulling it tight around my face until only my eyes remain uncovered. My heart hammers against my ribs, a frantic drumbeat of fear and determination.
Silra's eyes are wide with a desperate urgency that sends a jolt of cold through me. The stardust-like coating on her skin now covers every inch of her visible flesh, leaving a shimmering residue even on the whites of her eyes. It’s terrifying to see how quickly it spreads, and I know we’re running out of time.
"I... I understand," I whisper back, my voice muffled by the jacket. "We have to find that Starheart thing before-"
My words are cut off as the tunnel suddenly lurches around us, the stone walls groaning like a living creature in pain. The symbols etched into the rock pulse with an eerie light, and I see shapes move within them - faces twisted in agony, mouths open in silent screams.
I cling to Silra's arm, my fingers digging into her bicep as we stumble forward, trying to keep our balance. Every step feels like a battle against the oppressive air and the shifting floor beneath our feet. The stench of decay grows stronger, filling my nostrils with a cloying sweetness that makes my head spin.
Suddenly, Silra stops dead in her tracks, her body going rigid. She points a trembling finger ahead of us, where a narrow archway has appeared out of the darkness. Beyond it, a dim glow emanates from what looks like a chamber filled with strange, pulsating objects.
"Is that...?" I start to ask, but then I hear it - a low, guttural moan coming from deep within the chamber. It's not human, and it chills me to my core.
