Round 348 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As we move forward, the creature's grip on my arm tightens, its fingers digging into my skin. The tunnel narrows further, the jagged rock formations closing in on us from both sides. The sound of rushing water grows louder, and I can feel the air growing thick with mist. Suddenly, the creature stops, its head cocked to one side as it listens intently. A faint humming noise fills the air, and I can see a faint blue glow emanating from the walls ahead. The creature's eyes flash with warning, and it whispers, "The node is activating. We need to destroy it before it spreads."
I glance around, trying to take in our surroundings, but the tunnel seems to be shifting, the walls pulsing with energy. I spot a small alcove to our left, partially hidden by the jagged rock formations. The creature's grip on my arm tightens, its fingers digging into my skin as it says, "We'll need to act fast. The node is going to release a burst of energy that will corrupt us if we don't destroy it."
I feel the creature's grip on my arm tighten even more as its warning about the node activating reaches my ears. The sound of rushing water grows louder, deafening almost, and I can see the faint blue glow pulsing from the walls ahead, casting an eerie light over everything. My heart hammers against my ribs, a frantic drumbeat of pure fear.
Its eyes lock onto mine, wide with alarm, and I know we have only seconds before whatever is about to happen will be upon us. I try to take a step back, but the creature's hand holds me firmly in place, its strength impossible to resist. The air grows thick with an electric tension, and I can feel a strange pressure building inside my head, like a migraine about to burst.
Suddenly, the alcove to our left catches my eye again. It's small, just big enough for someone to hide in, but it could provide some cover if this explosion of energy happens. The idea is crazy, dangerous even, but right now it feels like our only chance.
"I... I think we should get into that alcove," I say, my voice nearly lost in the roar of the water and the humming noise filling the air. I point a trembling finger towards the hidden space, hoping the creature will understand.
The creature follows my gaze, its expression darkening as it realizes what I'm suggesting. For a moment, it seems to hesitate, but then its jaw sets with determination. It gives a sharp nod, its grip on my arm shifting from restraining to guiding as it pulls me towards the alcove.
As we move, the ground beneath our feet trembles again, more violently this time. The walls of the tunnel seem to be closing in even faster now, their jagged edges catching the light in a menacing way. The creature pushes me into the alcove first, its body shielding mine as it quickly follows suit, pulling the heavy stone slab shut behind us with a loud click.
The sound is deafening in the sudden silence of our cramped hiding place, but it's the only thing that cuts through the humming noise. I press myself back against the cool stone wall, my breath coming in short, sharp gasps. The creature stands in front of me, its body a solid barrier between us and whatever is about to happen on the other side of the slab.
I can feel the heat radiating from its skin, so close to mine in this confined space. Its eyes are fixed on the stone door, waiting, listening. The air inside the alcove grows thick with the scent of damp rock and something else, something sharp and metallic that I can only assume is the creature itself. It's an intoxicating smell, one that makes my head spin and my heart race for reasons completely unrelated to our current peril.
