Phase: escalating

Aethera’s shimmering form shifts ever so slightly, her energy rippling with a faint warning before she speaks in a low, measured tone. “You’re all too quick to assume I’m here for personal gain, aren’t you?” Her words hang in the air, heavy with ancient weight. “I’m trying to prevent a catastrophe. The artifact in that corner… it’s the key to stopping the corruption that’s spreading throughout this city.” Halie’s eyes narrow, her hand tightening on her holy symbol. “What do you mean? What are we dealing with here?”
Jeane circles to the left of Aethera’s position, her rapier still unsheathed but pointed downward in a non-threatening manner. “I keep my rapier unsheathed now but point it down—not threatening but clearly ready,” she mutters under her breath. “Aethera, you’ve lost all credibility after what happened upstairs. I’m listening because we need information, not because I trust your intentions.” Her crimson eyes remain fixed on the shimmering form, suspicion evident in every line of her body.
Silra lowers her rapier slightly but keeps it aimed in Aethera’s general direction—still a threat but acknowledging the need for dialogue. “I keep my rapier pointed at Aethera’s energy form but lower it slightly—still ready but acknowledging we need information,” she says, her teal eyes never leaving the ethereal figure. “Aethera, you’ve lost all credibility after what happened upstairs. I’m listening because we need answers, not because I trust your intentions.”
Halie steps forward slowly, her hand still resting on her holy symbol in a clear gesture of preparedness. “I step forward slowly, my hand still resting on my holy symbol,” she says, her voice tight with controlled emotion. “Aethera, if what you’re saying is true—if this Starheart can actually stop the corruption spreading through the city—I’m willing to listen. But after what happened upstairs…” Her blue-grey eyes search Aethera’s face for any sign of deception. “You need to understand that trust isn’t something easily regained.”
The ground floor room feels suddenly smaller, the weight of ancient magic and potential catastrophe pressing in on all sides. The various adult toys and bondage gear scattered around serve as a stark reminder of just how twisted this entire situation has become.
