Round 19

Phase: escalating

The tentacled horror surged forward again, its tendrils whipping towards Hera with renewed ferocity. The appendage holding her wrist tightened, causing her skin to flush an even deeper shade of crimson and making her gasp. Aethera's massive head turned towards the creature, its four arms flexing in a subtle gesture of warning as the air around it shimmered more intensely.
"Let me be clear," Jeane growled, wings beating in agitation, "you owe us an explanation about what you mean by 'irreversible changes.' That was NOT in our contract." She glanced at Hera, still trapped and feverish-looking. "Because if you've done something permanent to one of us without consent..."
Halie took a deep breath, her voice steady but with sharp disappointment. "Irreversible changes? That wasn't part of the deal we walked into here. I understand you're trying to make a point about perception and reality—but experimenting on one of us without clear consent is monstrous, not profound." She glanced at Hera's flushed skin, her stomach churning with concern.
Silra stepped back, scanning Hera's condition while processing Aethera's words. "Irreversible changes—of course it would make this complicated." She muttered under her breath before addressing Aethera: "So let me get this straight: you're telling us that freeing Hera now means whatever fever dream she's experiencing sticks around permanently?"
She circled around the side opposite from where the horror-thing was still writhing, keeping her distance while trying to maintain a clear view of the situation. The creature's continued aggression made her fingers twitch towards her rapier instinctively, but she resisted the urge—at least for now.
Aethera considered their questions, its presence pulsing with otherworldly energy as the air around it shimmered more intensely. The very walls of reality seemed to ripple for a moment. The creature surged forward once more, its tendrils whipping towards Hera with renewed ferocity.
"Wait," Aethera rumbled, its voice echoing through the warping space, "I will explain what you mean by 'irreversible changes.' But first—"
