Round 219 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Jeane casts her light cantrip, the chamber is bathed in a warm, golden glow, illuminating the eerie bioluminescent plants and ancient, twisted coral formations. The air seems to vibrate with an otherworldly energy, making Abby's skin prickle with unease. She notices that the strange, glowing shape above them has moved closer, its massive form undulating through the water like a living thing. Jeane's eyes flicker open, her gaze locked onto the shape, and she whispers, "It's not hostile... yet." Her hands tremble as she readies another spell, her body tensed with anticipation. The skeletal figure behind them stirs, its bony hands flexing as it takes a step closer, its glowing eyes fixed on Jeane. Suddenly, the water beneath their feet begins to churn and foam, as if something massive is stirring in the depths. A low rumble echoes through the chamber, making Abby's heart clench with fear. The glowing shape above them surges forward, its presence seeming to draw the energy from the air.
I force my wings to stop trembling and focus on maintaining what magical energy I have left. The glowing woman above us is beautiful but terrifying—her movements fluid and predatory. We need to move. That skeletal thing isn't alone, and whatever's down here... it’s watching us. I gesture for Abby to stay close as I begin casting a simple spell to illuminate the immediate area around us. Keep your eyes open. This place has teeth.
My heart hammers against my ribs as Jeane's light spell illuminates the immediate area around us. The bioluminescent plants cast an eerie glow on her face, making her demonic features seem even more pronounced. I can feel the power radiating from them, a low thrum that vibrates through the floor and into my bones. Every sound—a splash of water, a creak of old stone—makes me flinch.
I press myself closer to Jeane, seeking the comfort of her solid presence in this alien world. Her body is tense, ready to fight or flee at a moment's notice. The skeletal figure looms behind us, its glowing eyes fixed on Jeane's back like twin lanterns in the darkness. Its bony hands flex, fingers twitching with an unsettling life.
Then my gaze is drawn upwards, to the massive, ethereal woman gliding through the water above us. She moves with a fluid grace that is both beautiful and terrifying. Her form seems to shift and change as she passes through shafts of light from Jeane's spell, sometimes solid, sometimes translucent. I can see the raw power emanating from her, a different kind of magic than Jeane wields.
"I've never seen anything like this before," I whisper, my voice so faint it is almost lost in the air. My eyes dart between the skeletal figure and the glowing woman, trying to gauge which threat is more immediate. "What do we do?"
