Silra moved through the ancient stone archway like a predator stalking prey, her teal eyes scanning every inch of the flickering bioluminescent growths that pulsed with an unsettling rhythm. The corridor ahead stretched into darkness, punctuated by more of the flesh-walls made manifest in this nightmare corporate facility. Her slim form tensed as she registered the wrongness vibrating through the very air—as if the building itself was alive and hungry.

Behind her, Jeane stumbled forward, wings twitching erratically as she tried to maintain balance while assessing their options. The succubus's crimson eyes were wide with panic, desperation bleeding through her usual mask of seductive confidence. "Silra, report! What do you see?" Jeane called out, her words barely audible over the growing hum of ambient energy.

Move your ass, r...

The flesh-walls continued to groan ominously as Silra completed her rapid scan of the corridor ahead. She turned back to face Jeane, her expression grim but controlled. "Three fusion experiments approaching rapidly from the east—already moving with unnatural speed and absorbing energy from the walls faster than expected." Her teal eyes flickered to the failing directional shield surrounding them both. "Your magic won't hold much longer in this environment."

Jeane's face paled further, her already trembling hands clenching into fists as she fought off the effects of hypothermia. "Can you hack their systems? Override their control somehow?" The succubus's voice cracked with desperation.

Silra shook her head sharply, silver-blonde hair catching what little ambient light remained. "Not from here—I need direct access to their central processors." She paused, teal eyes narrowing as she considered the tactical situation. "We have maybe two minutes before they're in range—too close for comfortable combat even if my fingers weren't going numb."

The directional shield flickered again, magical energy bleeding out between cracks in its structure. Jeane's wings drooped slightly under the strain of maintaining even that much protection. "Then what do we do? Fight or run?"

Silra's lips pressed into a thin line, her rogue's instincts screaming warnings but her technical mind already calculating possibilities. "Run—through the corridor." She gestured toward the darkness ahead. "But not blindly. I'll scout forward while you maintain whatever shield you can behind me."

Jeane's crimson eyes widened in alarm. "You're going alone? That's suicide!"

"Less than two minutes until your magic fails completely," Silra replied coolly, already moving toward the corridor entrance. "And when it does, we both die anyway. This way, at least one of us might survive to actually complete our mission."
