Silra moved with practiced efficiency through the concrete tunnel, her teal eyes scanning every shadow and junction for signs of pursuit or further danger. The sound of dripping water echoed ominously around them, counting down their remaining time before this rapidly flooding passage became impassable. Jeane huddled closer to the elf's side—not quite touching, but close enough that the shared body heat offered marginal improvement over standing alone in the frigid water.

"You're shivering," Silra observed clinically, more statement than concern as she pulled out a small emergency blanket from her pack. "Hypothermia sets in fast in conditions like this." She unfolded the shimmering material with practiced efficiency, the cheap metallic surface catching what little light filtered down from above.

Jeane hesitated, her eyes widening as she glanced at the unfolding blanket and then at the elf beside her. The memory of their previous 'treatment' session still burned uncomfortably fresh in her mind despite the necessity. "I've got an idea," she said softly, her voice barely audible over the dripping water. "My demon nature can sense magical resonance. If I focus on those rats, I think I can disrupt their bio-engineering..."

Silra's eyebrow arched skeptically as she paused mid-unfold, but she lowered the blanket without protest. "Disrupt them how? And what happens if you lose control of your magic in this confined space?" Her teal eyes locked onto Jeane's crimson gaze with clinical assessment rather than concern.

"I can sense the magical signature," Jeane insisted, her wings shifting slightly as she maintained her balance in the rising water. "If I concentrate..." She trailed off, clearly uncomfortable with the idea but equally determined to avoid another 'treatment' session if at all possible.

Silra studied her for a long moment before nodding curtly. "Fine. Try it. But stay close—if you start to lose control, I need to be able to intervene quickly." She moved to stand beside Jeane rather than across from her, positioning herself where she could monitor both the succubus's magic and the junction ahead.

Jeane closed her eyes, focusing intently on the scattered rats. Her wings tensed slightly as she drew on her demonic abilities, a faint crimson glow beginning to emanate from her skin. The water around them seemed to shimmer briefly before settling back into its normal oily surface.

Silra watched with professional interest rather than concern, her own hands hovering near the various tools and gadgets clipped to her belt. After several long moments of concentration, Jeane opened her eyes with a frustrated sigh.

"I can sense something magical," she admitted reluctantly. "But disrupting it without more information... The feedback could cause a backlash that damages both me and the surrounding infrastructure." She glanced at Silra, her expression showing both relief and lingering frustration. "We need to find another way."

Silra's jaw tightened almost imperceptibly before she nodded. "Understood. Let's focus on the immediate problem—finding a route out of this flooding section before we drown or freeze." She moved forward cautiously, her rogue's senses extended as she scanned the junction for traps or surveillance devices.

The rats had scattered during Jeane's attempt at magical manipulation, leaving the area momentarily clear but also raising new questions about their behavior patterns. As Silra approached the wall where the lead rat had been sniffing earlier, she spotted something metallic glinting faintly in the gloom—a small panel or hidden compartment perhaps.

"Jeane," she called back softly. "Come here. I think I've found something interesting."
