Halie's eyes widened as she watched the entity crash against Jeane's shield with increasing force. The water around them was rising fast now, and the air grew thick with humidity and the stench of stagnant water mixed with something else—something ancient and wrong. She turned to Silra, her voice tight with urgency. "How much longer? We need options now." The cleric's fingers tightened around her cross as she scanned the flickering screens surrounding the teal-haired rogue. Behind them, Jeane was already moving towards the collapsed tunnel wall, her patience clearly fraying.

Silra didn't look up from her screens, her fingers a blur of motion across the interface. "I'm in," she said tersely. "But this place is a maze designed to confuse and misdirect. Every path I try leads to more security or worse—actual traps." She glanced at Halie, her teal eyes sharp. "Your girl back there needs to calm down before she triggers something we can't hack our way out of."

Halie bit back a retort. "Jeane's... frustrated," she admitted, understating the situation dramatically. "But she knows what's at stake here." She turned to face the rising water, her heart pounding. The entity outside the shield was growing more aggressive with each passing moment, its form shifting and changing like liquid shadow. They needed a real solution—fast.

As if reading Halie's thoughts, Silra spoke again, her voice strained. "I've found something—a maintenance corridor that might lead to an emergency exit. But it's buried under collapsed concrete and... something else." She zoomed in on a section of the map, highlighting a narrow passage barely visible beneath layers of debris. "The problem is, whatever's down there isn't showing up on my scans. Could be structural damage, could be more security, or..." She trailed off, leaving the unspoken possibility hanging in the air between them.

Halie felt her stomach drop. "Or what?" she asked, even though she wasn't sure she wanted to know the answer. The water was now waist-deep, and the temperature seemed to be rising. Sweat beaded on her forehead as she watched Jeane methodically testing the structural integrity of the collapsed wall with her staff.

Silra's expression was grim. "Or whatever that thing out there is," she said, nodding towards the shield where the entity continued its relentless assault. "If it's got access to the building's systems, which it clearly does, then who knows what else it might be controlling?" She met Halie's eyes directly. "We need to decide if this corridor is worth the risk. Because once we're in there, your shield-wielding friend and I will be relying on your... whatever-it-is-you-do to keep us alive."

Halie felt a surge of both frustration and admiration. Silra was clearly brilliant at what she did—hacking her way through corporate security that would have stopped them cold—but her technical mindset sometimes made her blind to the very real dangers they faced. "My whatever-it-is-I-do," Halie repeated dryly, "is called faith and healing magic, and it has its limits." She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. "Fine. Show me this corridor—let's see what we're dealing with."

Silra nodded and expanded the map further, highlighting the narrow passage once more. As Halie leaned in to study it, she felt a sudden chill run down her spine that had nothing to do with the rising water temperature. Something was moving in the darkness beyond their shield—a sound like wet cloth dragging across stone. She straightened abruptly, her eyes scanning the gloom.

"Jeane," Halie called out, her voice steady despite the fear coiling in her gut. "We need to talk about this corridor option. And I think we have company."
